12 gauge 18.5" barrel pump shotgun loaded with Winchester PDX1
|
I recommend a full sized Glock in your caliber of choice. Mount a light and lookup some ammo choice topics on this sight for your ammo of choice.
Good to go. |
12ga pump or semi auto is as good as it gets. those saiga 12ga semi-autos with the drum are a lot of fun!!

Shotguns are great if you know they're breaking in,
once they're in, I'd give thought to a dependable pistol, like a CZ75, Beretta 92, 1911A1, or S&W revolver... If your state doesn't have Castle Doctrine, the cops expect you to run into the bushes outside your back door and hide. Bring your phone, because then you'll just have to call the justice system which disarmed you in the first place, and beg them to get your house back for you. It might take a few hours, (or days) but what the hell, that's what you're paying a mortgage for, isn't it? |
This would have been better in the "Protection" area.

Look at a remington 870 or mossberg 500 both come in short barrel defense versions both are reasonably priced, reliable, and effective.

It does depend on location.
In NY, NJ and a couple other 'Democratic Republics' about the nation, it's better for you if you have some bushes out back. I understand that plants cost a lot of money, with mortgages being so high, but a medium size pile of dry, bug-free leaves will do in a pinch... |
I've got pistols within reach and an 870 with 00buck in the corner , if I had time I know which one Id grab.
