I have a hipoint c9 and have shot about 300 rounds through it no jams no failure to ejects all in all a nice gun amazing for the price. Though have saved enough now I'm looking into a 1911 and maybe trading my hipoint.

i ended up with a hi point c9 only paid $50 for it. bought when i bought my mosin they threw it in for the $50 it was used. that being said i know its not the 45 but it is large for a 9mm iv cleaned it several times but after about 50 rounds it sometimes stove pipes short of that it seems OK i wouldn't count on it though it is a cheap gun exactly that..

Okay.

I've actually owned one, and this is my experience alone.

The 9mm is an absolute jam-o-matic. I don't expect miracles from a $170 gun, but I've had more reliable ones that cost less.

If you're looking at it as a home defense piece, you'd better buy extra magazines and practice clearing it.

As was mentioned, cleaning requires a hammer.

I wanted to like this gun, and ended up taking a beating at a pawn shop, because I dislike paperweights laying about.

I almost bought my 4th one Saturday, I have a 9 and 45 pistol and a 9mm carbine. Except for 1 FTF with the 9mm pistol they have been flawless. Saturday I saw a 380 with a compensator that looked pretty cool it was $119 usually plain they run 99 for 380, 119 for 9mm and 139 for the 45.

I have a Hi Point carbine that is very reliable. I don't know about their pistols. I have shot pistols that belonged to my friends. They were reasonably accurate and trouble free. If I only had one gun on a $200 budget I would get a Maverick 88. You can get a new one at Walmart today. My local Walmart has the 88 under $190.

My Hi Point carbine has been through hell. I have drug it behind a 4 wheeler, thrown it in my toolbox and rode it around for months. I shoot it all the time and clean it about twice a year. I have the ugly 995b. The frame broke on it. Hi point fixed it free and put a new stock on it. The only problem you can't find a new carbine for $200. You can find them used very cheap.

@Kycol HiPoints have jumped in prices. Almost any hi point is around $200 time you pay tax or a FFL fee. My wife wants a TS carbine. Our LGS said they could get one for $250 when they come into stock. Last week they came into stock for $329. She said, NO! Time you add tax it's over $350. She can get a used carbine that is made of real steel and aluminum for that price.
