Default Help standardize new acronyms for Automatic Pistol Actions

Revolvers are easy:
DAO = Double Action Only
SAO = Single Action Only
DA/SA = both

Our standard military pistols still fit the revolver definitions:
M1911 = SAO
M9 = DA/SA

Some newer automatic pistols still meet the old definitions too:
Taurus 24/7 also meets the DAO definition
Taurus 845 meets the DA/SA definition
XD/XDm meets the SAO definition

What doesn't work is the pre-set hammers and strikers. The ruger LCP is a pre-set hammer and the Glock is a pre-set striker. They are not DA, nor SA nor DA/SA. If you have a misfire on the pre-set trigger, they are not DA to just fully recock again.

What do you like better for a new acronym these pre-set strikers and pre-set hammers?

GLOCKs aren't really DA. They're kind of half-way there. So why don't we just reverse the letters and call them "AD"s. If you don't like that one, we can go with "ND". Just spitballin' here. Seeing what sticks. Just a thought...

Since they are often referred to as DA, it might be helpful and less confusing to keep DA as part of the new acronym.

What about DA/S = double action/set

Since XD/XDm is always fully cocked when loaded, perhaps a more true acronym for it instead of SAO would be SA/S = single action/set

I think all automatic rifles are SA/S too.

What do you think?

I like it, now you just have convince BATFE against the objections of every manufacturer that produce arms that fall into these new categories. GLOCK trades on the fact that they are "DAO"!
