Help me decide !

Ok, after some thought I've decided to get my wife a .22 pistol for her first gun. Hoping after she gets her concealed carry she might move up to a .380 auto or 9mm. I'm between the Ruger SR22 and the Walther P22. Which one is the question

I recommend upping it to a 25acp, but if you must Ruger is the King of 22lr semiautomatics.

I dont know much about 25 acp pistols. Can you give some recommendations? What is the cost of ammo ? Similar to .22 lr?

25acp is overpriced as ammo, but much more reliable as Centerfire than 22lr is as Rimfire... MUCH!

I don't deny the 22lr is a viable self defense caliber because if placed right any caliber can and will kill, but a 25 does a lot more damage to a computer hard drive and centerfire is superior reliability.

I'm looking at picking up a FIE Titan in 25acp. There's the Astra 25, Beretta 25, etc. If she likes DAO triggers the Beretta would be the way to go.

The real answer is whichever fits her better and is most comfortable for her. She'll be more likely to stick with and more confident to defend herself God forbid that day ever comes. If she is comfortable and likes it chances are you'll be shelling out for her a more powerful gun anyway at some point lol... And probably the gear and clothes and ...

Ah yes, I remember the last time I bought her something personal like that.

It was pretty, fit her good, and was expensive.

I thought she would wear it every night.

But she prefers to wear the flannel SHE picked out.

Check out the Beretta Bobcat. .22 semi-auto, tip up barrel and steel frame. For target shooting BeyondTheBox is right, Ruger Mk III is king. IIRC Magnum Research(makes Desert and Baby Eagles) makes a .22 magnum small semi-auto.

Please don't!:(

Get a Beretta 950. It will go bang every time you pull the trigger. EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!

There are two titans, originally made of steel and now of cheapo Zamak. I'm going to give this thing a shot, as the Beretta is overpriced for such a small low cal junker. Besides is not for protection, I've got that more than covered already, this will just be a plinker.
