Mention the scope mounts to your family as Christmas present fodder; from what I recall, BIL's were not included nor were they inexpensive.
No bears around here, except for the ones in uniform and I will not be shooting at those bears.

I'm not sure I want a scope on it. Though, I think it would be fun to take it deer hunting.

I think my BIL ended up with some kind of reflex sight on his, but I haven't used it since. His revolver grip was big and Hogue squishy with a red line down the backstrap.

I'll have to shoot it before I decide for sure, but iron sights are usually good enough for me.

I think they said the grips on mine are S&W grips. I'll have to see when it get here.

Taurus Tracker (Gen 1) - .41 Magnum in really good condition - $400

Ruger Security Six (6" barrel) - .357 Magnum in good condition. A little finish wear. - $429

Taurus Model 65 (5" barrel? Adjustable sights) - .357 Magnum in good condition with a little wear. - $329

Smith and Wesson 19-5 (4" barrel) - .357 Magnum in good condition, but with a lot of holster wear. - $375

Ruger Speed Six (2.75" barrel) - .357 Magnum in really good condition. - $375

Here's what I'm wanting. I'm wanting a gun that is accurate, can handle reasonably hot rounds, and it will be mostly a range gun. Ammo cost and availability doesn't matter since I plan to reload anyways, and weight doesn't matter much either. (unless it's too light for the round, and makes the gun uncomfortable to shoot)

I'm kind of leaning towards either the Ruger Service Six, or the Taurus Model 65.
I have an unfired new model blackhawk 357 blued I will sell ya in your price range

Well, change of plans. The shop called me and told me that they had sold the gun the morning before I ordered it.

So I went shopping. They had a 44 mag in my price range, but it was a single action army copy from a company I had never heard of, so I passed. Instead I found a Taurus M-35 357 Magnum with a 6" (or there abouts) barrel for $357 (including tax).

Mechanically, it looked like it was great. Cosmetically, it needs a little work (not much). It's stainless steel, so is should be easy to clean up.

I'll post pics later. I will say that it has a DAMN nice trigger in both SA/DA.

Yes, after I went through hell trying to find one, I finally got it. I have never had that much trouble getting a gun before.

I still want a 44 mag, but it will have to wait. I'll probably save up for a nice S&W down the road.

And thanks, I'm sure I will.

I want a .44 Mag too. And maybe a .41 Mag. And some more .357s. A .22. Maybe a Medusa.

Oh the woes of being poor . . .

You ever see my list of guns I want in the gun nut thread? I feel you pain.

Also, you forgot .327 Federal Mag.
