You never know.... I traded a 870 for mine.

It would be pretty easy to get the Smith set up with any of a few new finishes. And out of the guns pictured it's the best of the bunch. In fact it don't look wore so bad that one could not cold blue it.

Well, I guess it comes down to the shops then. I'll call the shop with the S&W first and see if they'll ship it (and if they would go down on the price some ), if not, then I'll see about the Ruger.

Thanks guys.

Something to think about. If you get the S&W 19 you might want to consider a nickel plate job by S&W. The 19 was available with a nickel finish as an option. My ex was not well known for taking care of stuff, so I sent her 19 back for plating. When it came back that was one of the smoothest revolvers I have ever fired.

i'm kind of liking that Taurus Tracker in 41 Magnum!
make a nice companion for my Tracker 44 Magnum.

seriously any of them seem to be pretty decent deals.

1. the S&W 19
2. the Ruger 6"
3. the Taurus 65
4. the Tracker 41

I gotta say go with the Smith. I am not knocking the other choices but I am worse than a Glock Fanboy over a S&W. (Ruger does make a fine Wheel Gun)

Taurus Tracker (Gen 1) - .41 Magnum in really good condition - $400

Ruger Security Six (6" barrel) - .357 Magnum in good condition. A little finish wear. - $429

Taurus Model 65 (5" barrel? Adjustable sights) - .357 Magnum in good condition with a little wear. - $329

Smith and Wesson 19-5 (4" barrel) - .357 Magnum in good condition, but with a lot of holster wear. - $375

Ruger Speed Six (2.75" barrel) - .357 Magnum in really good condition. - $375

Here's what I'm wanting. I'm wanting a gun that is accurate, can handle reasonably hot rounds, and it will be mostly a range gun. Ammo cost and availability doesn't matter since I plan to reload anyways, and weight doesn't matter much either. (unless it's too light for the round, and makes the gun uncomfortable to shoot)

I'm kind of leaning towards either the Ruger Service Six, or the Taurus Model 65.

Of your entire list, the Security Six is the one I'd buy. Why?
Taurus... without setting off a Taurus poop storm, let me just say that S&W or Ruger options are probably your best way forward.
Speed six? It's really a carry gun. Fixed sights and short barrel. Not really the best choice for a range gun. Will it work? Sure, but it's far from ideal.
S&W 19-5? While brilliant in many ways, K-frames are not really the best choice for a steady diet of full strength .357 loads. (forcing cone cracking.) Consider S&W L or N frame for shooting big bunches of max loads.

Well, you guys have made this HARD for me to choose.

I think I'll wait on the 41 Mag for now. (Axxe, if you want it, I'll send you the link ). As for the S&W 19-5 and the Ruger Security Six, its a toss up. I think I would be really happy with either one. So here's what I did. I sent both shops (one is a pawn shop, the other is a gun shop) a message. I asked them if they would ship to my FFL (of course I'd pay for it), and I asked them to come down off their prices some (can't hurt to ask).

I asked if they would take $400 for the Ruger, and if they would take $350 for the S&W. Let's see how this goes, then I'll decide for sure.
