Happy new Kimber owner

I just picked up a new 1911 this weekend. A Kimber Custom Target. I took it to my club Sat and yesterday to test it out. First three shots from a rest were touching each other in the 10 ring. I was a little disappointed by the 5.5lb trigger on Sat but I got it down to 3.5lbs now which is right where my SR1911 is. Ran some reloads through it last night and it performed flawlessly. Everything is tight and well fitted. She's a keeper for sure.

And I have to show some love to the Ruger as well. Don't want him to be jealous of the new baby:

Thanks guys. It's a great gun. Very accurate right out of the box. Now I need to start reloading so I can afford to feed these things. Man are they hungry!

Great find. You'll find a lot of Kimber haters on this and other forums, but mine have been a joy to own and shoot and no problems whatsoever. I used my Custom Target as a "project gun", Cylinder and Slide internals, coyote brown and o.d. green finish and a Brownell's rail and a Kart barrel. The .22 conversion slide has been a blast and now has it's own frame so I don't have to keep switching it back and forth. And the 4" CPD II has been my carry gun for 15 years now. Accurate, dependable and light weight.

Sandog - nice lookin' pistols you have there...... but,
what's to hate about a Kimber. It's a solid gun, shoots great, and the manufacturer is located 30 minutes away from me. I wasn't even looking for a new 1911 but, I came across the Kimber and was impressed by how well fit it was. No play in it anywhere. There were some S&W "E" series in the next rack for more money and they were sloppy as can be. Even some of the other Kimbers weren't put together as well as this one.

I just couldn't let someone else have it. It had to be mine.

Good guns. I had two of the stainless target models. I replaced both of the sear springs worn reduced pull sears from Cylinder and Slide. Really drops the trigger pull. Congrats on the new gun.

Yeah, I'm in NJ just over the bridge. The Henry factory is just up the road as well.

Thanks. I messed with the trigger after the first trip to the range. It was a little over 5 from the factory. I got it down to 3.5 lbs and it feels pretty crisp. Most of my other guns are in the 3-3.5 range so I'll probably leave it alone now.
