Well it's a done deal. We went to the range and she tried several different guns and decided on the 9mm Glock 19 . They didn't have one to rent but the guy working there was carrying one and offered to let her shoot it. She shot about 4 mags thru it and fell in love with it. She's scheduled for a 1hr 1 on 1 class with instructor. This is one sweet gun! I made trade up from my Hi Power.
Good job on letting her pick what she liked. Be safe and enjoy.

I'm interested in a small, effective, low recoil handgun for my wife to use as ccw. She hasn't had much experience with guns but we're going to do some training and range shooting in addition to a ccw class.
Her sister gave her a .25 Sterling Auto that I fired a couple of rounds thru. Seemed to work alright, but I've read several posts that they jam quite often.
Any ideas out there 'bout which gun would be best for self defense for her?
The smallest most effective low recoil handgun for a woman that I can think of is the 9mm. It does not have the kick of a .44 mag or a .45 ACP, but it is perfect for a woman.
G19 is a wonderful weapon, but can i suggest a G26, its what i carry everyday/all day !!! Then you both have a Glock , and if your wife turns out liking the 26 better, you still have the 19 for yourself..... Its a win win !!!!
Either way, congrats on your new firearm, shoot the crap out of her, they enjoy it
