Had a blast at the range today
Just finished cleaning after spending more than a couple of hours with my brother-in-law and nephew at an outdoor range today. We shot;
- Springfield XDm 9mm, - Walther PPS 9mm, - S&W 5906 9mm, - S&W 686 .357 mag, - Browning Buckmark 22LR, - CZ 75 SP-01 9mm, - Sig 220 .45 cal, and - Weatherby Vanguard .308 Between the 3 of us, we probably shot close to 1,000 rounds. :D I feel bad that I neglected my .40 cals but they will get their turn. ;) |
Sounds like fun! What do you think of the 5906, particularly as compared to the XD9?
|
Grip - both felt good to me but XDm have a slight advantage. The hogue grip in the 5906 made it bulkier.
Recoil - 5906 felt much better (esp with the hogue grip & is heavier) Accuracy - Both had good grouping but XDm is a bit more accurate , the 5906 was shooting low but consistent so I just compensated. We were shooting cheap 115 gr and POI might change with 124 or 147 grains. All in all....I think I would give them same value $ wise. In my case, I only paid $300 for the S&W so it is a steal at that price (tempted to buy another actually). |
