Which ever one I'm carrying this week is always on me or close at hand. I occassionally have a back-up in the night stand & all the others in the safe. This has especially been adhered to during the last few months of drought & fire danger in my area. Didn't want them spread out all over the house & have to worry about getting them picked up & into the fire safe, if we had to leave in a hurry.

I always have my J-Frame with .38 +P ammo in it. I also have a .45 acp of some sort. Usually either a 1911 or my Bersa Concealled Carry Pro. My wife also has a 22 mag J-Frame.

Any room in the house I can put my hands on a weapon most are 380 or 9mm so my wife can handle pretty easily. And there is also a 40/45/357/12ga/sks/and 22's and 2 Louisville Sluggers just in case!

I notice that with only one exception ("various 1911's"), everyone that mentions multiple guns has different models and/or calibers. Does anyone believe that this might mess with your gross motor reflex/muscle memory when the SHTF and you have to use one of them? Or do you all practice extensively with every owned firearm so that you know every one intimately?

Actually I do go to the range at least once a month, when I go I take a couple different ones with me, or I go out on my deck and plink a mag or two.

I have shot the 1911 more than other platforms.

My thought is not only the muscle memory, but the mags fit in any one I pick up.

That is one very prudent point, and one of the reasons why I want to get a 1911.

Springfield Armory 1911 (.45)

I imagine that I keep it where everyone else does- close enough to get if I need it

I carry two different platforms, but same motion to operate/deactivate the safety, Bersa & 1911s. The .380 safety does operate in the opposite direction, so I carry it with the safety off. It is their CC model & the controls have been thinned down so that I can't accidently flip the safety on.
