It would depend on the situation and how much warning I had, and likely also where I was. Those concerns aside, my go-to gun would be the one I've owned the longest and have no concerns about it's reliability: my Ruger P94 (actually KP944) in .40S&W. It lives in my truck, in a holster, with 2 mags full of Gold Dots. .40S&W should be available from LE and retail if needed, but it is what I have the most rounds stockpiled.

If I had time to think about it, and if I was at home when said event causing the bugging out happened, I might grab the CZ75B instead. I have more mags for it and the are larger capacity, and I have plenty of 9mm to feed it. However, it is the newest addition to my collection and has yet to prove itself to me.

So I think for me at least, the type and timing of the event would dictate what pistol ended up as my go-to.

Default My go to gun

Given a shtf situation my go to gun would be my ruger mk2 target model 6 7/8 barrel .....this may seem like a strange choice to some people , so let me expound ..I shoot this pistol very well ...very well . It is scary accurate. It is as reliable and tough as a mopar slant six. Loaded with aquila super max exclusively....I have killed wild hogs up to sixty pounds with one shot to head at 40-50yrds...Dropped in their tracks. I can put a years supply of ammo in a backpack ,only maintainance needed for pistol would be a .22 boresnake, and an old toothbrush. I can hit man sized tarkets out to 300yrds all day long. If i need a larger gun ,Ill use steath/camo and woodsmanship ,to ''pop'' a ''zombie'' in the back of the head for battlefield pickups.

Yeah, I'd have to go with the Beretta.

It occurs to me if the SHTF, it might be like that sergeant said in

"We Were Soldiers"--"If I get in a situation where I really need a gun, there'll

probably be a lot of them dropped on the ground..."

So, where you deer hunt, you can legally hunt other animals? I'd like to hunt the <shift> key right now.

Sig P226 in 9mm, 15+1, 6 spare magazines. The wife would grab her Sig P239, also in 9mm.
If I got time for a long gun, Ruger Mini 30. Good stopping power and reliable plus I have lots of ammo.

I used to own over a dozen guns. Now I'm down to three and two of them are Glock 23's (sold the others to pay for ammo and instruction/classes). My EDC 23 has a TLR1 mounted as well as night sights. The remainder of the gun is stock. I know the gun like the back of my hand. I handle it through dry practice every day, go to the range at least once a week, and run it in all of the classes and private instruction I receive. It's my life line if SHTF.
