Gentlemen, after five solid months of research, scouring FTF, and one moderate disappointment, I picked up my first firearm today. I had originally planned to acquire an XDm through an LEO, but intricacies in Soviet, I mean California, law kiboshed that idea. I eventually fell back on one of the 3 pistols I was already acquainted with, the Sig Sauer p226. I don't think I'll regret this outcome :D.

Sig's TFO night sights are BRIGHT. I don't feel they're necessary for me, but I'm certainly not removing them.

Range trip and report on monday 5/24 with my sister and possibly Mr.Incredible, if he's not too burned out from saving kittens out of trees. I have 500+ rounds to burn, and a few doozies from my dad's collection, as well. Any suggestions (wet newspaper already intended)?

Excellent choice. Is it a 9 or a 40?

.40. You just picked one up yourself, right?.40? Over the years I've had the chance to shoot a couple dozen handguns, but the pistols were almost all .40s, as this is my dad's dept.'s caliber, so its really all he owns. I've read a lot of caliber war threads and articles, and I eventually decided to stick to what I know.

Cool. Mine's a nine.

I think you'll really like that one. From what I've read about them they are great pistols. I haven't tried one myself though.

Thanks for posting!

Congrats. Looking forward to range report.

The Sig 226 is one of the true classics. Had one for a time myself but I prefer the 228/229 as it's a tad smaller for carry. You'll enjoy it...

Congrats. You could have definitely done worse for a first gun. You'll be happy with the Sig for years. Very well build machine.

And look, you can even trim your toenails when you run out of ammo. :D
