The mechanical/inherent accuracy would not be affected by caliber but the practical accuracy will vary with the caliber of the weapon and the individual using it. My nephew has both the 45 and the 9 and it is much 'easier' for him to be accurate with the 9. Just common sense. I would guess the 40 would have an even more violent recoil than the 45 or the 9.
