I figure if it takes me no more than 3 attempts to list all mine correctly off the top of my head then my collection still has room for growth.

May I suggest a 22 MAG, in Bolt Action for small game? Maybe a CZ 452, 453, or 455, or a Savage..... (I recently got a CZ 453 in 17 HMR, very impressed.)

I am a licensed "collector" Curio and Relics FFL holder. Although I have many modern firearms, most of my collection consists of milsurp rifles from around the globe. I have focused on particular countries such as Russia and Great Britain as well as the good ole US of A... So I guess the bottom line for me as to having a collection, I would discount the modern stuff and call them aquisitions and what I consider a collection would be the milsurps that I've purchased over the years using my FFL.

Mine, in order of necessity:
1) 12 ga. shotgun - manually operated
2) .30 cal. or larger revolver
3) .30 cal bolt action rifle w/ good optics
4) .30 cal. or larger semi-auto handgun (preferably concealable)
5) .223 or larger semi-automatic rifle
6) .22lr/.22mag rifle of any action
7) .22lr/.22mag pistol
8) .30 cal. or larger full-size semi-auto pistol
9-...) everything else
Start whackin', that' my opinion.

Great suggestion. I have a 452 in .22LR and it can drive tacks and it's a very high quality rifle.

I kinda like Barney Fife's collection: A revolver and a bullet. Not a complete cartridge, just a bullet. Doesn't even need to be the same caliber as the revolver.

It depends on the emphasis of your collection. I do not consider myself to be a collector but an accumulator. I cannot afford the prices charged for true collectables. For me I wanted as many calibers as I could amass. I own a Ruger 10/22 in .22, a Browning Buckmark in .22, a Baretta 950BS in .25, a Nagant Revolver in 7.62 Nagant (.32), a Hopkins-Allen (.38 S&W), a Ruger SPS-101 (38spl/357mag), a Ruger Security Six (38spl/357mag), a Ruger GP=100 (38spl/357mag), a Ruger Redhawk (44spl/44mag), a Ruger Blackhawk (45 Colt), a Ruger SR1911 (45ACP), Glock 32 (9mm Luger, 357 SIG, 40 S&W), Glock 21 (45ACP), Taurus Judge (45 Colt/.410 Shotgun), CZ-82 (9mm Makarov), Mosin Nagant 91/30 w/octagon barrel (7.62x54R), Mosin Nagant Sniper (7.62x54R), M44 Carbine (7.62x54R), Chinese SKS w/10 round box mag (7.62x39), Chinese SKS w/AK-47 removable mags (7.62x39), M1 Carbine 30 Cal, M1 Garand 30.-06, Marlin 336 (30-30).
To fill in my C&R collection I have a long way to go. For US WWI/WWII guns I would like a Springfield 1903, a Thompson Contender and some of the earlier revolvers, I do not currently own any of the English, German, Italian, French, Swiss, etc firearms.
For modern weapons, I would like to expand on my collection/accumulation of lever action rifles/carbines, I would like to expand my inventory of SA revolvers and I would like to get a few more of my favorite side arms, Glocks.
So many guns, so few dollars.

Yes, I think you may be right. He just always referred to his cartridge as his "bullet".
