This letter from my LGS shows an almost dumbest gun deal I have done. I almost bought a Glock 22, in fact it was order from Austria. I came to my senses and bought the HK USP .40 instead. I decided the extra cost was worth it. I bought the first choice CZ.

Dear Mr. Myers,

Here are the following prices of the different Varieties.

Glock Mod. 22 Generation 4 Cal. 40 S&W € 689,-

Komplette Prices for Rifle, Scope, Mounts, Mounted and Sighted In € 1.759,-

- CZ Mod 550 Synthetik , Cal .308 Win.

o Meopta 3-12X56 LA

o EAW Mounts

- CZ Mod 550 Luxus, detachable Mag, Kal 308 Win €1.809,-

o Meopta 3-12X56 LA

o EAW Mounts

- CZ Mod 550 Luxus, inside Mag, Kal 308 Win €1.729,-

o Meopta 3-12X56 LA

o EAW Mounts

All Prices are in Euro Ratings and still have the 19% Vat calculated in them.

Prices will change if you choose to use a Vat Form of course.

I once traded a Desert Eagle in .357mag for a set of golf clubs....
I was happy at the time because the DE was wayyy heavy and not practical (thus I did not shoot it too much) and was wanting to get back in to playing golf.

But it was still a pretty stupid trade.

But the worst thing - gun related - that has ever happened to me was when my apt was broken into and my entire collection of guns stolen.
The only one that I really remember and hurts to this day was my mint condition Colt Python in bright/polished stainless steel with 6 inch barrell.
Not a "gun deal" and not my fault but it still stings 30 years later.

Not sure which one was the worst but the top three all involve buying Remingtons.

Passing on a Colt King Cobra (if I remember correctly) at the local gun show in 2009. It was 4 inch model .357 Magnum for $900.

I know the dealer, the gun was almost new, original case and accessories.

I would have purchase it; but, had the wife nearby!

Ouch. I made the mistake of selling a No. 1 in 30-06 once.
