Careful what you ask for there Larry...

Seriously, it does get tiresome answering the same questions 237 times a day. I will tell you though that if a poster takes the time and effort to actually type out a reasonable post with capitalization, punctuation, and actual paragraphs - most of us will go out of our way to help. If I have to consult a teenager to decipher the texting code in your post or if my eyes go crossed because it's one long sentence with no punctuation - you'll likely get no response at all or a "google is your friend"...

Good post Dave.

My niece was looking at purses (some "name" brands) on e-bay. I was pointing out some obvious flaws and told her to stay away from the "Rolex that sells for $200.00".

But the problem is that people have too much mony and not enough brains.

Seriously, don't you need an ipod to be able to listen to a podcast? Or will a regular pc or mac work? I really don't know but it just sounds like you do.

Excellent post and action Dave! I commend you for taking the time to nip a bogus deal in the bud like that. We have to watch out for each other. I'm proud to say that this is the only forum I would buy/trade something without hesitation.

In the thread title he didn't even specify it was a Llama - just a "1911 for sale or trade". The text of the ad was very misleading as well and it would be very easy for a noob to 1911s to think they were getting a real 1911 - and it wasn't even a bargain.

Since the rules of the forum (which are there for a reason) preclude "negative" posts in an ad. What I did was phrase my "warning" in the form of a question so I asked: "Is this gun 100% parts compatible with a Colt 1911 as you indicate in the ad?". The guy actually tried to dodge giving a correct answer and soon a mod picked up on what I was doing and "helped" me make sure that correct info was in the thread. Moral of the story is to do your homework and don't believe everything you read on a forum or hear at a gun store. Not everybody has integrity so be careful. In 30 seconds on Google you'd find out that while a Llama may look like a 1911 - it isn't very compatible...
Great way to handle it sir! Glad to have a guy like you around!

Ive found these guys to be great, just contribute when you can and flash some "gun porn" from time to time

Seriously, as a noob who came across a 1911 recently, I too found the google searches confusing too. but thanks to these guys i avoided a high dollar franken-1911 and now have the knowledge to identify the 1911 i want.

Some people just dont know what they have. the old guy i like to deal with doesnt really do his homework and on occasion it gets me a deal. while he asks high dollar for all the "popular stuff" (like 1911's, sks's, ak's, etc), awhile back i ended up with a Medusa for a steal cause he thought it was "just a funny looking .38."

They started off as weekly audio-casts that could be automatically sync'd to an iPod, but nowadays "podcast" just refers to any topic-oriented video or audio series that releases at regular intervals.
