So what did you have to do to get your license? Can anyone get one? What's the waiting period? 10 days? 30 days?

Well its not an easy task. Just being a member of S.S.A.A. is not enough, you need to be a member of a 'Pistol Section' of a S.S.A.A. Branch, or an 'Approved Club', most S.S.A.A. Branches have a pistol section. To join this, you have to go to the Police Station and ask for a 'Pre Approval' application, You fill this in and lodge it at the Police Station. Weapons Licensing Branch will then process the form and send you back a letter telling you to join a Club. When the letter returns, you can then join the Pistol Section of a Branch. The Branch will let u know on what is required to join. You are then on probation for about 6 months. During that time you have to attend at least 3 Branch Competition Shoots, these will be recorded on your Participation Record Card that the Branch will give you when you join, then when your 6 months are up you can apply for your licence. After you have sent your application form in, it will be processed after 28 days from the time you have sent it in.

So then what was your reason to be licensed? You can't use a .50 in IPSC competitions

Yes. Wouldn't you be on probation for 12 months and not 6 months? 6 months using club guns to compete then 6 with a probationary license then you fill out a license request?

If he wishes to discuss airsoft guns, he should present them as airsoft guns.
