DA/SA .40s&w help!!!...please
Alright got the good ole Christmas money and some I've saved up, I'm a poor college student and I want to purchase a da/sa handgun in 40 s&w. Looking to spend around 500 hopefully less.
I've been looking at the Taurus pt840 and the sig 2022 but I've been extremely mixed feelings on the taurus and if I'm gonna get a Sig ill save to get a 226, no polymer bs What else is out there that yall have had, loved, hated, etc. that could fall in those lines? |
I believe the stoeger cougar is available in .40 as well. Ive never been able to fully trust taurus products after owning several. Just my opinon.

I thought my P95 was a pig. The Stoeger cougar is a horse at 32.5 ounces. You might want a dolly for the thing. Ruger makes a P series pistol in 40 cal. You could find a XD with $500.

Find a used Smith and Wesson 4006. Solid guns. Should be able to find a LE trade in that was carried daily and shot once or twice a year.

i have a cz75b in 40s&w which i purchased at around that price range. i love it, took a couple hundred rounds to break it in, but im very pleased with it. However if you intend on buying a gun for concealed carry i wouldn't recomend it only because its too heavy for me to comfortably carry. Very accurate though and a blast to shoot at the range.

Oops, just saw you don't like polymer. Then check out CZ brand, almost if not everything they do is da/sa and everyone claims them to be quality.
The 40p is a bit above 500, but not by much. |
I've got a Beretta 96A1 I like it a lot, it's the same as the M9 9mm the military uses or the civilian model 92 in 9mm only its a 40, hence the model 96. The A1 was new a couple years ago, it has a rail incorporated into the frame and has an extra round or 2 in the magazine than the regular model.

I have a Stoeger Cougar (model 8040) in .40 S&W. I am most happy with it. It is accurate, reliable, and "right-size" for daily carry. The price can't be beat. They Stoegers are originally Beretta's but are now made in Turkey. Stoeger is a fine, respected manufacturer, noted for fine shotguns. The Cougar .40's have 11+1 capacity, and use a rotating-barrel lockup, which, at least in my gun, results in good accuracy. They are all metal, no polymer frame, if that is important to you.
