You need to look at the EAA Witness in .45 ACP. Same profile, great line up to choose from, tremendous aftermarket and widely customized. In fact, most CZ options can be used with them.
I loved mine, but also owned one in .40 SW that was a real sweetheart. |

Sounds to me like you (OP) have no problem owning and using this gun but you're afraid of what your family will think/say. Been there, one that (that's the basic story behind every Preacher's Kid). There comes a time when you have to realize that it's OK to make your own decisions and take a damn-'em-all attitude regarding other people's response. I never would have learned the enjoyment of fine crafted beers and whisky and tobaccos had I let my dad dictate the course of my life and my life would have been greatly poorer.
Shoot what you like and like what you shoot.

What difference does it make if you kill a bad guy with a 9mm, 45, 380, 38, or 22? Any gun is better then a sharp stick or even a Glock. __________________ “There are hundreds of millions of gun owners in this country, and not one of them will have an accident today. I carry either a Sig P226 in 9mm (16+1) or my STI 1911 (8+1). If I have the Sig, I probably don't bother with a spare mag, if I have my 1911, I always have a spare.
The Sig is loaded with Golden Sabres, which mushroom nicely.
The 1911 is loaded with Winchester PDX, which open even more.
In either case, they aren't going through the BG and I'm confident that either round will do the job.
The spare mag goes back to my revolver days of carrying a speed loader, because 6 might not be enough, so I had 12.
If I can't get it done with 17, I'm in more s**t than I can probably handle although I have trained using multiple mags.
My bottom line is you go with what you trust because that makes you more confident, which should keep you more focused, which should keep you alive. JMHO. __________________ Walt

the 9mm is complete s**t. its is a combat round, not a defensive round. It is used to fight your way to a rifle not used to stop a 300 lbs garbage truck hopped up on meth with hungry eyes for you. Dont give me "well shot placement yadda yadda". any jack ass knows how to aim for head or chest, my problem is over pen. .45 is slow and heavy, a 9mm is like a a needle with JATO's on it. Id be afraid to carry such a round knowing i have to think of whats behind the target cause if i dont, its going to keep going beyond what it really needs to.
does anyone at all have some knowledge on proper 9mm loads that can stop a mac truck of a bad guy without going through a car, wall, windows, the back door, and beyond? i mean, i even refused to go to the pistol range while i was in because i hated the M9 that much. but now, just cause i want it so bad im looking for help to be convinced that this would be a good idea.
seriously, its like sacrilege for me. its like telling my dad that i just proposed to my girlfriend. the hardcore liberal devoted socialist girlfriend.

Here is a great thread that just may convince you to embrace the 9 mike mike:

ALL HANDGUN CALIBERS ARE MARGINAL AT BEST!
The 9mm, 38 Special, .357 Magnum, .41 Magnum, .40 S&W, 10mm, and .45 ACP have had their successes and failures. There is no magic round. Heck I had a .308 fail on me. Practice and become as accurate as you can and select what you think is the most appropriate bullet given YOUR conditions. That's all you can really do, or control. The rest is fate my friend. |

note to self
never-EVER bring up personal problems/moral dilemmas on FTF forum, brings out the holier than thou "i know better" crowd
settled problem with shouting match/fictional tactical situation arguments with father. eventually lost patience enough to go tell him to f**k himself. argument ended with "...alright, let me know when you get it boy, i wanna shoot it."
i appreciate the ones who at least took a grasp at what i was trying to accomplish, my gratitude goes out to you and your advice was taken into account. |
