Default Console vault for taurus

So I recently purchased a ford taurus and I would like to put a safe in it to hold my papers and my handgun once I get one. Any idea on where I can look for one? I would like one that fits in my center console, and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Any tips or ideas? Thank you for your input

You might want to check with local laws regarding storage of a pistol in the center console with or without a carry permit.

In my state (Ky) without a permit you can have a pistol in a glove compartment. It is not considered concealed there. But it has to be listed as a glove compartment in the owners manual. With a poermit I don't believe it is an issue being you have a concealed weapon and a permit to do so. But truth be told I have not researched that.

Personally I'm not too high on the idea of a secure box/safe in that kind of plain view but I do understand the logic in wanting one. I don't leave any gun in the car when I'm not in it on most occasions. The easy access is kind of intriguing but I am wary of it being so easily seen and some asshat trying to pry it open. I have had secure boxes in less conspicuous places though.

I did try to Google for something like what you are wanting to do but I didn't find anything. You might be best served to make it yourself or at the least modify an existing one.

Well the box wouldn't be in plain view. I am looking for one that could be mounted into the center console. That way it would be hidden.
