Default Cobra Pistols .45 Question???

Merry Christmas All:

I am looking to purchase a HD pistol for my Daughter. She is a nurse and gets home late and is occasionally home alone when husband out of town.

Can anyone give me any info on the Cobra Pistols Patriot .45 double action pistol?? It looks like a small auto but it is double action and hammer less. Cost around $280-$300 MSRP I believe.

It looks light weight at 18 oz. with I believe a 3" barrel. Looking for opinions on this gun as a HD weapon first and secondly as a gun for a Women.

THANKS in advance for your input, look forward to your replies.

Regards: Lastcast, Ranger Recon, Class of 67.

Default Cobra

I can give you the spec's on it.
Patriot .45
sold by the Cobray Industries S.W.D. iNC, Atlanta, Georgia

This double action only pistol chambered for the 45 acp cartridge. barrel length is 3", frame is black polymer. slide is stainless steel. Magazine capacity is 6 rounds. weight is about 20 oz.

New in box $350. From the values list it shows that pistol and all the others made by the same company lose their value rapidly, with one in good condition being worth only $115 or less then half of the new price. One in poor condition is worth only $45. Going from that I would say it is very poor quality even when new. And not something you would trust to keep a loved one safe.

Have you considered a small .38Spl revolver?

What does she think is the best for her situation?

Does she practice firearm shooting in general?

The biggest, baddest, meanest handgun is useless if someone is afraid to fire it or carry it.

imo if I were looking for a .45 in the $350 price range, I'd get a Firestorm(Bersa) before a Cobra.

A good 12ga semi auto or pump action is better for home defense than a handgun. They are easier to master or at least become proficient with.

In a life or death stressful situation fine motor skills degrade by 75%. Unless she is going to dedicate a lot of time to handguns and isnt going to carry a shotgun is the best homedefense gun there is.

I own a Cobra patriot 45. I've had it for a while and never had a problem with it. I use it to carry along with a few others for my ccl. I prefer my glock 38 45 gap though
