Cleaning After Range

Just wanted to ask a quick question... I already do a nice general cleaning of my guns after the range... But how often, if at all, do I need to break down the WHOLE weapon and clean. I would think its more of a personal preference and whether or not you lose sleep about it. I mean, if the safety measures work, if the hammer falls when you squeeze the trigger, the pin hits the primer, and the next round is fed into the chamber, that's all you need to be worried about. I believe in preventative maintenance but I'm also pretty lazy. Your thoughts ?

Just follow the recommendations in the owner's manual. That shoulds be safe and plenty enough.

I've seen this bantyed about quite a bit & answers of once a month to once a year, usually dependent on how much you shoot. It seems it is a more common practice with the 1911 platform & some manufacturers of other platforms recommend it only be done by a qualified gunsmith or warranty center because of special tools required.

90% of the shooting i do is with 1911's-
I wipe down & run a brush & a couple patchs thru the barrel after shooting-
Other than that i mite break down & CLEAN them every 7-800 rds or so (mabe) :o

BTW- SEMPER FI
