Carry 380, looking for ammo with highest stop power....

I carry a small 380 in my purse, but would like to have the most stopping power for the 380, is there a list of balistic for different makes of ammunition?

I must be getting old, I don't remember what I carry in my .380

I recently bought an LCP for a back up gun. I also bought some self defense hollowpoints,102gr.
I was advised to carry full metal jacket ammo. After doing my own reading and research I agree. The .380 is not a manstopper. What I'm going for with the fmj (95gr) ammo is penetration, especially if the goblin is wearing a jacket.

I'm also going for head shots. Full metal jacket(95gr) for my Razzy.

Wow, is that Magsafe Defender safe in a LCP? It doesn't say it's a +P?

Edit: Oh never mind, I just realized it's only 60 gr. What's the point of that?

IF YOUR GUN WILL RELIABLY FEED THEM, I recommend the following:
-Cor-Bon Pow’rBall JHP – the best combination of power and reliability available.
-Federal 90 gr. Hydra-shok (P380HS1 H) - the best standard-pressure .380 JHP load, period.
-Cor-Bon 90 gr. JHP - the most powerful .380 hollowpoint, bar none.

Take a look at Buffalo Bore ammunition. I find it to be impressive in my .357. However, I haven't used it in a .380.

I can only tell you what I keep loaded in mine. I keep my Ruger LCP loaded with Hornady Critical Defense ammo. Buffalo Bore is another good choice like CA357 advised.

For my wife's LCP that she carries every day, we load it with 90 gr. Federal Hydra-shoks. They will meet the FBI's standard of 12" for bullet penetration.

Here's some .380 data.

That should be enough information to decide what you will carry. I'm taking the one with the most penetration. Expansion will be minimal with a small round like the .380 and you'll be giving up penetration.

12" in geletin (depending on how thick it is) is the minimal amount of penetration you want. That's equivalent of 4 milk jugs of water. The FMJ penetrates 5 gallong of water. Even in winter dress that will penetrate and put holes in the bad guy.

You have to decide for yourself. I'm going to conduct my own tests in the future. I've already done this with my 9mm and .45 and carry winchester ranger's in them.
