People break, bend and/or ignore the law all the time, and in this case the school itself violated district policy by not performing the daily random searches. With the searches being random it still may not have caught this particular kid, but at least they would have had the chance.

Laws don't actually prevent anything, it's up to each individual to make the decision on whether or not they follow them. Most responsible people will follow the laws that are written, but others won't.

Random searches only yield lucky results.

Why do you feel it necessary to list your guns?

I know I was being sarcastic. That's what the libs think. Make a law and criminals will have to obey it. Right!

Sadly, a tragic incident, but indeed as stated, it could have been completely preventable.

Default beretta 9mm accidental discharge

After 11 years in the Air Force dealing with Berettas, I can say that most have 3 built in safeties. The manual safety/decocking lever, the half-cock notch, and the firing pin block. The manual is the lever in the back that wont allow the trigger to cock the hammer and when the hammer falls with the safety on, the firing pin is not inline with the striker, so the safety was propably off in the shooting. The other 2 safeties would have stopped the discharge if the hammer fell and the trigger was not being held completely to the rear. The half cock notch is designed to restrain the hammer if the trigger is not being held and the sears slip. The firing pin block is a block that sits in a notch in the firing pin and WILL NOT

allow the firing pin to move unless the trigger is intentionally held to the rear as the hammer falls. Therefore, it is more probable that this was an intentional shooting. Latest news indicates that the bag was not dropped, he reached into it for a lunchbox or something. I think there is more to the story.

Which makes me question, why after almost a week already do they not have all of the facts? Something about the story does not smell right.

In any instance I call for a ban on students at all schools, only then will they be safe from firearms!

I agree and would like to add malls and colleges to the list of banned places. These are the only places people seem to get shot so they must be completely eliminated!
