Not trying to hijack the thread or get hung up on semantics....but isn't the term 'caliber' defined as, the diameter of the bore of a gun taken as a unit of measurement. With that said, 380, 9mm, 38spl, 357mag, etc. are basically the same caliber. However they are unique cartridges.

You're right, but... Being primarily auto-loader cartridges the .380 and 9mm do not use the same diameter projectile as the .38 and .357 magnum unless you are loading for an auto-loader. Auto-loaders use the 0.355 diameter projectile while revolvers use a 0.357 projectile. What the actual barrel diameters are I have no idea, but the projectiles are different.

We now return this thread to the original reading comprehension test.
