Default Brain Picking/Mech-Tech

I ran across a company called Mech-Tech, they make 16" barell conversions for 1911 & Glock. Has anyone seen one of these or know someone who has? I like the ideal but need more info.

I've seen the ads and heard they're SUPPOSED to work as advertised but have no 1st hand knowledge of the kits.
Sometimes you earthlings REALLY amaze me!

I, too, have heard from owners that they work great. But I have not used one. I played with them at SHOT about 10 years ago and they seemed like good quality stuff.

Default Mech-Tech

I've had one in .45 ACP for a lot of years. It spends a lot of time in my gun safe for no logical reason because it is fun to shoot. Great for knocking down plates at 50 yards and beyond. I reload my own and use a 185 hollow point with a maximum load of Unique and it shoots great. They are tough and are also heavy. They don't sell them with sights so you have to get a red dot and it has to be mounted high in order to sight comfortably. And, of course, you have to use the bottom-end of a.45 Auto. The back-up service is very good. I had a broken extractor years ago (which, I understand was a common problem with the early ones) so I sent it back to them and they replaced the extractor and really "tuned" it-no charge for anything. Here's their site:

Mech Tech Systems, Inc.
