Hummm, Only one brand of cheap ammo tried. To bad no 165 gr or simply a second brand , no hp tried . New handgun , tight recoil spring , junk ammo means possible trouble. Was the aftermarket mag a promag?? That's sort of expected. You did clean and lube well before hand right?? Over all Don't think much of the test.

hardluk,
First off no Promags are used in any Hi point stuff we do as they void Hi point's warranty. This post or the blog were not about the the video or the poor performance of this paticular weapon. It is about the warranty work performed by Hi-point. Answering your other questions about cleaning and lubing, YES and YES! we apperciate your comments, we are not competion or professional shooters.

Well an AFTERMARKET mag was mentioned in the video. If not promag , something else. Brand was not mentioned. Handguns can and do have issues with some ammo from time to time that may have nothing to do with the handgun it self but production issues we do see today. THAT was why I mentioned using only 1 brand of ammo tried in the video. Even a different lot number could have worked. But we will never know. I am not a comp shooter ether but learn long ago to always take a couple brands of ammo alone with a new handguns for testing and breakin and to use if a problem show up down the road . A proof load in effect . A good low cost load and a better quality load . Some times when a new tight handgun may not function with some lower powered brands but after a 100 rounds and a little cycle time and softening up of springs may run fine with it. I do look at that federal american as one of those low powered loads. Does not matter at this point but might be worth think about in the future.
