I'd say it comes down to what your comfortable with given your environment.

Over the last 17 years I've carried just about everything at one time or another but over the last 5 I've settled on my Kahr PM 9 as my EDC w/1 B.U.M

Gives me 14 rounds of 9 mm on board in a package that's unnoticeable... until it's needed.

About 2 years ago I had a 9 month project up in Lakewood WA... yep, that town where the nut bag x con murdered 4 Lakewood PD officers in a coffee shop about 1 year prior.

I packed my Kahr everyday but also had my XD .45 ACP in the truck. 13+1 w/2 B.U.M.'s for the late nights in the construction trailer.

Tack

I saw a guy the other day with one of the lil sneaky pete holster things and a plain-looking pocket/holster for a leatherman tool that may or may not have had his backup mag in it. It reeeeeaally looked like a mag and not pliers. I like that idea, keep the mag clean and debris free.

You're kidding, right? Better than .357 magnum? Wow.
I said the best all round not the most powerful. How many police forces and armies use .357 ? . PS I was replying to bigger is better the .357 is 9mm just at a higher velocity.

There's a difference, but it doesn't matter if your shot placement is good. It really comes down to personal preference.

There's a reason for that, and it's not because the 9mm is better.

The 9mm was created in Europe, and was eventually adopted by many countries for military and police use. Which naturally made the 9mm extremely popular in those countries.

The 45 ACP on the other hand was created in America, and was used by our military for 80+ years. It was mainly used in the 1911, which became the most popular handgun design in America.

That's the reason for the difference in popularity.

When I CC with one of my revolvers I carry a couple of speed strips If I OC then I carry a couple of speed loaders.

With my auto always have a mag back up.
