DefaultBest Man Stopper Round???

I just bought an XD45 this last Friday and was wondering which round is the best home defense round. Is it HydraShock, Gold Dot or another round. I am sure they will all do the job if called on but curious which is the best. Thanks.

The one that hits its target! All will do the job.

40 Mike Mike tends to be a good man-stopper

Seriously though, all of the choices you listed will work fine for putting the threat down. Concentrate more on practicing the art of putting whatever rounds you purchase center of mass 100% of the time.

Is your weapon rated for +P or +P+ ammo??

I carry Winchester's Ranger SXT ( STX? ) 230 gain hollow points with +P rating and they flat make a mess of things, so I have the utmost faith in their ability to punch large holes in flesh covered targets.

Fixed it for ya.

Son, you already have the best caliber of weapon for stopping BG's, as stated previously, it really does not matter whether you use FMJ or HP rounds or which brand of ammo. It's all personal preference, just use what you comfortable with and can afford to use. I stagger my rounds with FMJ and HP, that way on a 3-tap, if needed, I can prove that I am an equal opportunity ammo deployer!

Any of the rounds listed AS LONG AS THEY CYCLE IN YOUR WEAPON 100.0000% of the time.

Autos can be finicky about what they eat. If it fails to cycle, you either have a single shot, or a poorly designed club. Regardless of whether the bullet is the Plutonium Nitrate Rhino Shredder.

And a thought I have had expressed to me- find out what the closest law enforcement agency that uses your caliber issues. Just in case you ever face a lawyer demanding to know WHY you chose ammo designed to produce the maximum injury possible. "I picked that one because the deputies standing over there carry it. That's what the department issues to all their officers- so I figured it would be a good choice. "
