just spoke to my local police department and you guys are right...it is shoot to stop the threat, which your target should be center mass right in the middle of the chest which is the widest target on the body....i do appologize, i guess there is a difference in what the law says and what a hardcore aint gunna take sh!t from no body says lol

The well placed one.
And cut out the KILL crap, you're making me nervous.

i have just had bad experiences with stuff like this so i now know my mentality has to be shoot to stop the threat and not shoot to kill

Glad you got everything straightened out. It MAY save you from grief if you ever have to use justified deadly force.

My own thoughts on ammo...
Range- Go to Walmart, look for Winchester White Box, CCI Blazer, or Federal Champion. All can be found around $10-12 per 50 (20-25 cents/round) when in stock. The only cheapie I avoid is Remington UMC...based souley on others' accounts.
Defense- Just about any name brand HP should work fine in a Sig. I prefer the 115-125gr variety over the 147gr. Fed Hydrashock, Win Ranger, Speer Gold Dot, Rem Golden Sabre, and Hornady Critical Defense are all proven performers. CorBon makes some spendier high velocity loads with really impressive ballistics. Fed Classic Hi-shok is a nice bargain load. Find a flavor you like, and stick with it...sort of like motor oil in a car.
These are all easy enough to find online if there's nothing locally. I ordered most of my HPs from ammunitiontogo.com. Fair prices, reasonable shipping, quick service.

I run .45 ACP, 230 gr. Hydrashocks. They're a pretty devastating round, but I'd still count on using 2 or 3 shots to stop a threat.
If I was stuck with a 9mm, I'd run 147 gr. Hydrashocks and practice quick follow up shots. The heavier the bullet, the quicker it will be able to dissipate energy upon impacting a soft target. It'll also cause a greater impact when used against body armor at close distances.

Kind of like the difference between Ford, Chevy, Toyota, etc.
Each of these has their fans - do some research and choose...
