Beretta 96D. Converted to single action?

Just picked up a 96 D from my dealer. Not sure about the double action only. The pull is smoother than any revolver I have had but just not used to it yet I guess. I have seen on a few forums that guys are replacing the trigger and sear to change it to almost an fs model. Anyone heard of this?

I've seen a few of these and the action is so smooth I'd leave it alone.

I'm thinking your right. Why mess with a good thing. Any upgrades you can think of or do you think it is what it is?

I don't have a 96 but I do have four 92s. The only mod I've made has been to replace the stock grips with Houge because I have long fingers and the Hogues make the grip fit my hand better. These guns are so slick I can field stripe mine with one hand. Detail stripping is easy. There is a great video on line under "Free Beretta Disassembly" I think that's the way it's listed. It's very detailed and the video is HD quality on my monitor.

I will check it out. Do you have double action only actions on your 92s?

All of my 92s are DA/SA. I looked at two Sig Sauer 229s yesterday that were both DA only. Police trade ins. $549. Tempting! Practically new except for holster wear. Nice smooth DA trigger.

Converted my 96D to a 96FS. Required a new slide, sear, sear spring, hammer, and hammer release lever. Bought a new sear pin (didn't need it) but was able to use the old one. only a couple bucks so no big deal. Could only find a slide for a 92FS which required disassembly and machining of recessed area around finring pin hole to accept the 40cal. Used the extractor from the 96. So now my M9 and 96 function exactly the same and I'm extremely happy with both. Also installed a Laser Max Guide Rod in the M9. Replaced the original guide rod and has a pushbutton on both sides of gun located in the slide release mechanism which was included with the laser. Really nice.
