Default Beretta 92fs recessed firing pin hole - Normal?
Hey guys,

Had a discussion lately as to whether the recessed firing pin hole on this Beretta 92fs Inox (Italian) is normal or not.



What are your thoughts?

Indeed, it is normal for that model. The American made version of the M9A1 doesn't have that extra indentation around the firing pin hole. The one I had before the great FTF boating accident, looked the same as your pic and it functioned/fired normally.

Any idea why the Italian models went that way with the firing pin hole recess?

I do not know on the 92FS Pistols. However I was told at the Beretta Plant in Accokeek that the Italians were not know for fine machining of stainless steel. Maybe that had something to do with it to possibly eliminate a burr problem with machining? Not that the stainless models do not work fine but doesn't take long to find machine marks.
We carried the 96FS Pistols 40Cal. for a couple of years and they functioned fine. Being a Beretta Armorer also I seemingly remember the slight firing pin recess? And no major problems with the weapons.
