Average Rounds at the Range
What are the average rounds people typically shoot at the range? I am thinking 100-200 is good but is that average or low? I am pretty sure it is not high.

My experience has been 100 at most for the average weekly or bi-weekly trip to the city in door range. Maybe as low a single box, depening on time and weapon. On the weekend trip to the desert, 1,000 rounds are easily spent.

For me, I shoot on the avearge between 100 - 300. Depends on what I am taking with me that day. I am just talking pistols now.

100-200 sounds about right for me.

Cost dictates my shooting habits. On a typical range trip, I'll rarely shoot more than one box of 9mm, unless I'm breaking in a new gun or something like that. I then pull out the .22 and plink away until I get tired of it or run out of cartridges. Once a month or so, I treat myself and break out the AR. In that case I'll usually shoot 100 rounds. I've found it's physically impossible to shoot fewer than 100 rounds in an AR.

100-200 normally. Although the wife and my 8yo son and 13yo daughter went with me this week. We went through 200 8mm and about 400 22. We all had a great time.

My wife and I go to the range together.
She takes her S&W Bodygaurd .38 and will usually only fire off 50 rounds just to stay familiar with her cary gun. I always bring at least 200 rounds for my G19 and she ususally helps me go through them after she has had enough of the recoil of the little S&W. |
It really varies. If I'm using my carry guns maybe 100-200. If I'm just plinking maybe a few hundred 22s. My cowboy guns (single action revolvers and lever action rifles) several hundred. During hunting season a few boxes of 308 to sight in and stay Sharp.

With the kids and 22's at the range, we'll easily do 500-750 rounds. With a trek to the desert, we'll do 1,000 rounds of 22, 150 12 gauge, 150 20 gauge, 300 Handgun, and maybe 100 30-06. That's three people shooting.
