I must also mention Fast n Loud. I've never really been into cars or hot rods, but I love this show now too. Gas Monkey garage is so cool. My TV is most often on the Discovery Channel.

LOL Seen that one a few times. I like how they commit to an auction without actually having a car. And it's in 7 days. Oh, and the car they get ends up not having a nice enough paint job. Really?

I agree that Pawn Stars and American Picker are entertaining. I watch both regulary. I have watched both American Guns and Sons of Guns once or twice. That was enough for me. I get to see "stupid" at work everyday. I deal with the public. I have no interest in watching it on TV.

I guess they're used to cranking out a car every couple days for an auction. Sometimes they only make a $1000 off a car or even lose money, so it's hard to make payroll when you have several guys on the crew. $1000 won't cover expenses.
I guess they really rely on the big scores that happen every once and a while. I think the auctions are totally real. Fast n Loud somehow comes across as a bit less scripted too. It's got a pickers, restoration and auction thing going on all wrapped up in a defferent cool hot rod every show.

They stage that for "dramatic" poise of the show. Still some cool cars.

The Chinese lady who runs the body shop is a stitch. She needs a
bigger part in the show. My favorite part is when she's rippin' on the
guys.
"They kwazee! How I do dat in a day?
It take at least a week! Kwazee guyz!!"

My favorite part of American Guns is when the owner takes a helicopter to clients houses to buy guns. He actually pulled out 50k in cash and a few gold bars for someone's collection ....... I looked at my wife and said "really......". Give me a break

This strikes me as one of the least fake parts of the show. They're in Colorado with all those mountains, a chopper may be the best/quickest way to get there. Also, you must have heard the saying, "Cash talks."? The only drawback to that is the $10K tax reporting requirement. And if someone wanted to pay me in gold bars, I'd be al for it.

What I get a kick out of is how people want shows like this to be more "real". How the hell are you going to have anything "real" in a gun shop, when you walk in and there are 4 video cameras filming you from every angle unannounced?

Yea the tax thing would suck but if he broke the sale down to individual firearms then nothing would be over $10,000 and they might get around the tax somehow. I dont know if thats actually how its done or the exact law on the tax so dont take this as how it works.
