Some extra beef, eh? Maybe that wouldn't be all bad; think of the possibilities.. Two at once in the bedroom, two urinals at once, free circus admission..

Not exactly, half-life means the amount of time it takes for half of a mass of radioactive material to lose radioactivity. With the 12.5 year half-life, 1lb of tritium would be 1/2lb of radioactive material after 12.5 years. After another 12.5 years you'd have 1/4lb of radioactive tritium, then 1/8, etc.
You don't lose mass, just that some of it stops emitting radioactive energy.

The tritium itself doesn't emit enough energy to glow, there is a gas in the capsule with it, that is easily excited by the little energy given off by the tritium, the gas is what glows. Like a florescent light bulb.

Wilder is correct - I didn't want to go into a whole lot of detail, but it is possible to irradiate past 25 years, but it would be so depleted that the levels would be so low as to be inconsequential. And since our subject is "Night Sights," most shooting enthusiasts would replace them every 10-15 years as the glow would have decreased significantly enough to notice. Most tritium sight manufacturers offer a replacement program if you send the sights back to them due to the fact that they dim over time.

When you shoot outdoors for one afternoon, you get more radiation from the sun than a set of tritium sights will emit 10years.

So my sights came in today. And the ammo shop that I got them from was hammering on my old sights so hard paint came off. First red flag I know enough about the tritium sights that *YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSE TO USE A PUNCH AND HAMMER WHEN INSTALLING THEM* cause you could damage the tritium vials . Second he came back out 10 mins later saying the stock sights wouldn't budge sorry < thank goodness cause I really didn't want the trijicon hds hammered in anyways >

And then I asked if ballistol was ok to use on alloy sig rails and he answered " I don't know what that is " At that point I was so disgusted I didn't even ask to which it < alloy sig rails or ballistol > he was referring to.

I guess that place is only good for reloads for range shooting. But after his multiple accounts of displayed ignorance at his trade should I even trust his reloads????

I mean what kinda gun shop OWNER doesn't know what either alloy sig rails or ballistol are!?@!?
