I often carry a 5 inch 1911 or a 4 inch 629. I only carry small guns when necessary.

and ask her about one of these:

Kimber Custom II with Clark 460 Rowland Drop-In Comp Kit $ 1195
Kimber Stainless II with Clark 460 Rowland Drop-In Comp Kit $ 1295

Take the $2K you save and buy ammo, reloading equipment and a Charlie Sheen escort date.
The Stainless will probably be my next 1911.

I'm 5-8 155lbs and I live in coastal south Texas so I wear shorts and t-shirts pretty much all year long. I could probably conceal a snubbie .38 or a 3'' 1911 if I really really wanted to but I would rather carry a plastic 380 mouse gun or an ultra light weight 9mm like a keltec or the new ruger LC9.

If I lived in a colder climate I would probably carry a subcompact glock 9mm most of the year.

I generally carry my Glock 23 now, but sometimes carry my G-22 or Taurus PT1911 concealed, generally all my concealed carry is done IWB.

In the winter i often carry my 6" Ruger GP100, In a shoulder holster. Wouldnt dare carry that beast on warmer days though. Even in the summer i can carry my 5" 1911 with no issues. Crossbreeds rock!

I have been carrying either a full size revolver or 5" 1911 for 11 years so far and it hasn't been a problem. I'll report back in 9 years for an update. I am sure I will still be carrying around the extra pointless weight.

I like the size of my Glock 27, any bigger and I have to drastically change my clothing to stay concealed. Even with a Milt Sparks VMII and a MTAC my G30 and G23 are easily spotted. I am 6'2" 230, all muscle also, no gut. I'll try to post a pic to illustrate
