If your shooting with gloves on, it would just look silly to take them off the reload a mag.
If you don't like you thumb getting chewed up, by all means, wear some gloves.

I don't load my range mags with them on ..only my hd and cc mags

I hear those nasty body oils are bad for brass & powder.
I do seriously handle my handguns with a t shirt most times, just to prevent smudgies. (my stuff is not high dollar)

Most of my guns are high dollar and i still am careful about what part of em i touch.
