Alternate handgun stopping power

Interesting compilation of shooting data here.
Shot placement seems to be the critical factor.
So, practice!

Its a very interesting read, and i like that he touched on points that most people dont, such as extremity hits. Thats important. Thank you for sharing.

That is a great study in firearms injury and incapacitation. It mirrors what I saw in a video of a trauma doctor discussing E.R. cases of gunshot wounds and deaths.

I find it interesting how effective the lowly .22 is, in all this.

Also how relatively mild the 9mm appears to be.

Both very middle of the road.

Did you read the entire article? He said the numbers were skewed because a large number of the 9mm shootings involved ball ammo. That would tend to make the 9 look less effective than it actually is because FMJ ammo is not a very good man stopper vs modern hollow point ammo. His data showed an average of 2.46 shots to incapacitate even with the FMJ shootings factored in. I have to ask myself how long it would take me to put 2.46 Gold Dots on target and the answer is not very long.

Youre probably better off rounding up to 3 full Gold Dots :p
