Default Affordable Double Duty .45?

Looking for options as far as an affordable (-$600) double duty (open carry on duty and CC off duty) .45.

I owned a S&W M&P which was nice, but I want to see what else is out there thats escaped my notice. Not real interested in Glocks as I just dont find them comfortable.

Thanks!

The Ruger SR45 looks good and with a $460 price tag very affordable. If Ruger comes through with a compact version that is still double stack it would make a very attractive carry gun.

Are you only interested in striker fired guns? I have a Commander length Ruger SR1911. Really nice, well made gun. I use mine for IDPA. I carry it too sometimes. It is around your budget. Might be $50 over.

I have a lot of respect for the 1911 platform but dont think I would be interested in one as an EDC. As a duty gun? Heck yea! But a cc? I dont think so.

How similar (fit and feel wise) to the Glock? It looks the same! :-P

The XD pistols have a 1911 grip angle, so it's a little more natural. It also has the blackstrap safety. They also sport a single action trigger.
Great guns!

xd is too blocky for my tastes. the xdm 3.8 is a great gun better trigger than glock or m&p by a long shot great safety in the grip safety better trigger than a xd, with adjustable grips, fantastic accuracy, uses both fullsize and shorty mags if you need a shorter grip.

best ccw gun i have that can function dual roles is my colt lightweight commander. slim short stupid accurate with the recoil that feels more like a strong 9mm than a 45acp.

another great choice is the beretta inox compact 20+1 or 13+1 witht he shorty mags.

if you are in a no printing state the colt lightweight commander is the definate go to otehrwise the xdm 3.8 or beretta m9 inox compact

I will find one to grab onto and see how it is! Sounds much more interesting now.
