I can vouch for the m&p. Although i own the .40, out of the box I've never fell in love with any other gun like my m&p. I've shot glocks, xdm's, sr series, browning hi powers, a 92fs and I still go back to that bone stock m&p. It's a fantastic gun and you won't b disappointed if you decide on one

Check out the M&P Shield if your interested in CCW but my favorite is the Beretta 92 FS although not a polymer. My local GS has a ten-for-ten policy. They have a version of most every gun they sell available and for ten bucks you get ten rounds to try one out on their range. I tried out about a dozen different 9MM's before deciding on the Beretta.

Look at the M9 A1 Steyr . Nice trigger compared to the Glock and M&P. I have a M&P Pro that shoots well. The Steyr's are easy to control and shoot well. Just takes a little getting used to using the trap sites.

I found the S&W M&P 9mm and glock to be uninspiring to shoot.

I have a couple Beretta 92s. The 92A1 has many nice

new design features, and the 92FS is a great classic.

They both feature an open slide which negates most

FTFs and FTEs.

Walther PPQ M2. No one talks about them, but they feel great and shoot straight. They did however get a great review in one of the gun mags this year. I love mine almost as much as my Colt Commander. Almost...

Hi. I'm thinking about getting the berretta 92a1. Any thoughts? I think it is a great looking pistol.

Excellent all around. A classic beauty in blued finish, par with the Hi Power. There are no serious drawbacks. It is very reliable. The DA pull is heavy, but that's how it was meant to be. One limitation, it is not for smaller hands. The trigger reach is rather long. Try it, and you will know.

P.S. It caught flak early on for cracked alloy frames, and it still reverberates on the Internet, but the issue is long gone.

Default 9mm suggestions..

Look into the Ruger P Series or the current SR Series... and note theirs price compared to other manufacture's comperable models.
