This may be a stupid question, but me being a shotgun guy I'm not real educated on handguns. Is there a difference between a .50 cal desert eagle cartridge and .50 cal smith and wesson cartridge?

The desert eagle is chambered in .50 AE, and the S&W is a .500 magnum
Caliber is same just different case length powder measurement and bullet weight and diameter
Ok thanks guys so is the smith more powerful??
Yes it is hav funn
.500 SW 275-500 grains 1400-2200 fps
.50 AE 300-325 grains 1400-1600 fps
The .50 AE is more manageable.
Also the .500 S&W Magnum is Rimmed & the .50 AE is rimless, or as they say, Semi-rimmed, straight & Rebated rim, straight...........
When all else fails.
And they are both Soooo expensive to shoot.
