45 gap/super & auto rim?
Seen these calibers on the Buffalo Bore handgun ammo section and not too familiar with them. Heard of 38 super, never of 45 other than acp. Any insight?

45 gap was glocks idea to shrink the grip. It's a tad shorter than the acp with roughly the same power.

.45 Super is a souped up .45ACP that destroys 1911 quicker with not real advantage.
The .45 Auto rim was designed back when there was a shortage of .45 ACP pistols for our troops in WWI and they issued the Colt and S&W revolvers. They are basically the .45 ACP with a rim to preclude the use of moon clips ("clips" is used correctly here).

Interesting Thanks for that. What about the gap? That one I was most interested in.

Think it stands for glock auto pistol. Not 100% on that. It's shorter than the standard 45acp, while providing same if not slightly better ballistics. IIRC it's fairly expensive ammo.

Huh, very cool! I'll look a little more into it, but logic sports your suggestion and I'd bet you're spot on.

It is .45 GAP, the answer in search of a question. IMHO, it came into being for one reason- Gaston wanted to see his name on a cartridge. Just like Sam Colt.
Honestly, Gaston Glock is a bit of a creep, with a huge ego.
BTW, you may also at some point run across .45 magnum- created for the LAR Grizzly .45 Magnum pistol. Rather scarce. In obsolete cartridges, there are a half dozen different .45s.

How about the .451 Detonics? The .45 Glock Auto Pistol is dying. It was dying the moment it came out. The idea was to put a .45 in a .40 sized pistol. Did not exactly work that way. the .45 GAP pistols have much thicker slides and do not fit in standard holsters. I have a couple of loaded rounds in my cartridge collection, but that is as close as I care to get to the caliber.
