I inherited a Hopkins and Allen Mfg. co. XL No. 3 .32 rimfire. Can anyone tell me if it shoots the long or short cartridge (or both)? I see a couple of outlets that now sell the long and would love to pick some up.

The only thing I can find on the XL model is listed as centerfire, and was manufactured between 1902 and 1914. Persoallly I would not shoot any guns of that age, especially handguns. The clyinder walls on these gun are very thin and steel of that age is not as strong as it was when it was new.
