Default 22LR Pistol Long Range Accuracy

In another forum, a member claimed his wife was shooting 75% bulls-eyes with a Ruger Mark III handheld at 100 yards. I called BS. But that's based on seeing the technical specs of the bullet, not any actual experience.

What say the more experienced members of the forum?

How big is the bullseye?

If someone told me they were hitting a 1" target @ 100 yards with a .22 pistol with 75% accuracy I would want to see it for myself. With a quality rifle, it's believable but still not easy. 2" @ 100 yards with a rifle is still a good shot but not unheard of.

if the bulls eye is 10feet across im sure it could be done at 300 or more yards. just depends on how big the bullseye is

that's what I was thinking, but I can only hold 3" circle at 50' with a red dot. Can't imagine 300' and hand holding.

Offhand MOA accuracy with a pistol is highly unlikely. I would simply tell him that is amazing- and let it go.

Given enough practice with a decent, well-sighted, long barrel pistol and good ammo, regular 100 yard hits are certainly possible. For example, 75% hits on a 12" bullseye would be believable.

Lots of people can shoot pistols at 200 yards and hit. But I've never seen anyone do it smaller than 18"

I can't even SEE a bull's eye at a 100 yds, much less hit it!

I did make a lucky shot one time, before my eyes went bad, & hit a soda can about 100 yrds away, on my first shot, with a H&R .22 revolver. Missed it the other five shots.

I'm pretty darn good with a pistol but if its a "normal" paper target I would call shenanigans.
