I really like my Browning Buckmark. My purpose for it is plinking and possible handgun hunting in SHTF.

It is NOT, however, a trainer for any particular platform. These days almost every major pistol has a .22lr version for training. But if you just want to plink and have fun, the Browning is great! So is the Ruger 22/45!!

I'm glad to hear the Ruger SR22 is owned by members here and have been very good for them as well. I found a shooting range that isn't far from me, gonna call them monday and see if they have a ruger sr22

As far as "centerfire styled" rimfire pistols, it's pretty tough to beat the S&W M&P22 and Ruger SR22. The Ruger is tiny, the S&W is considerably bigger...both are outstanding

For target styled rimfires you'll get the most quality for your money with Ruger or Browning models.

I have a Ruger SR 22 and it eats any brand of ammo that I put into it. I really like the grip on it as well and it actually comes with two depending on how wide you want it to be. If I had it to do over, I would buy it again.

Dark slide,

Between the 2 you list I'd go with the Ruger. They make good guns for the money and their Customer Service is very good if needed.

The Mark III 22/45 is a great gun (after taking the magazine disconnect out of it). Very accurate.

I've had an SR22 for a while now and I really like it. It eats anything I put into it. Heres a good deal if you decide on this one. This is the place I bought mine from but I paid $299 for it at the time.

I'm really enjoying my Colt 1911 22lr. It's a lot of fun to shoot and an accurate shooter.

Colt, GSG Browning etc have the .22 1911 pistols. These are not target guns. You can shoot HV ammo in them and use some 1911 add on and holsters.
