.22 Pistol
I want to get a .22 pistol and I am stuck between choosing a Ruger or a Browning, what would be the better device to purchase? Thanks

Gun Test did a review of the those 2 guns acouple years afo and they gave the knod to the Ruger hands down. More reliable and more accurate, according to them. I have never owned the Browning pistol, but have had several of their long guns and liked them all. I have several Ruger handguns, includeing 2 MKll pistols and have loved them also. That said I personally would also choose the Ruger hands down.

I have owned and shot Rugers MkI and MkII.

These are great guns and all but the 22/45 are top quality. Highly accruate and offer plenty of gadets to add. The 22/45 I would stay away from they are very cheaply made and look like crap. The checkering is too sharp and the grip is way to square for me.

Browning Buckmarks are very nice guns I have shot a few and never had a lick of troubles out of either of them. A buddy asked me to sight in his Buckmark Hunter with a Fluted barrel and a 42mm Tasco Red/Green dot on it. At 25 yards with Eley Pistol ammo it was producing .75" 10 shot groups off hand.

You will have an easier time disembling the Browning and getting it back together than you will a Ruger.

Personaly after shooting both the Browning and the Ruger and a Neos I went with the Neos. You will not go wrong with either the browning or the ruger I think. Handle them and see which one feels the best and get it. Then by all the 22 ammo you can get your hands on and shoot the hell out of it.

I don't think you can go wrong with either. If you can, get your hands on one of each and shoot them both. What works for others, won't necessarily work for you.

22 pistol
you didn't state it purpose!?

i just recently went thru what you are going thru and I ended up buying the walther P22

i have owned a ruger it was ok but was the std version many years ago
for hunting - yes the 22 stainless hunter is the best

for the browning I have heard a lot of bad items about it
actually I don't like the style

That's definitely one of those pleasurably torturous decisions. Both have many fans.

I have a Browning Buckmark, and enjoy it immensely. Only problem I've ever had with it was that initially the recoil spring was too strong to allow me to use standard velocity .22s. Only hi-speed loads would reliably work the slide enough to eject. Now after a couple of thousand rounds, it is fine with either.

The ruger is THE BEST currently available .22 semiauto that's inexpensive.

I have the Browning BuckMark and a Ruger Mark III. I put a scope on the Ruger.

I love them both, very accurate.

I have had about 2 dozen browning buckmaek pistols in my shop for repair. To this date,I've only gotten 3 rugers in. What does that tell tou? The browning has a flimsy wire ejeceor, and you HAVE to remove sights rail just to field strip. That indicates the sight rib and MAY or may not return to zero.
