I grew up shooting rifles and shotguns but haven't ever shot handguns with any degree of seriousness. I recently bought a Ruger GP-100 chambered to .357. After a few trips to the range, I realized I should have bought a .22 handgun to go with it so I'm not spending $50 every time I go to the range.
Does anybody have a recommendation for a reliable handgun chambered to .22? I am principally looking for a revolver, but would consider an exceptional automatic. I just want something simple that I can practice fundamentals with and not break the bank. Preferably, I'd like something for less than $500.
I just picked up a Heritage arms .22 revolver last weekend. I have pUT about 100 round s through it so far and it is a lot of fun...and very fair price...mine came with 100 rds from the LGS and it was all under 200.

If you can find a new sp101 in 4" i think that would be a great companion piece for the gp. Ive been waiting for ruger to come out with a gp100 in .22 for years but to no avail. Cant go wrong with a single action either!
