Well, I guess if you hold the gun like a dumb ass, you should expect problems.

Really? Who teaches, much less shoots the 1911 with their middle finger? (I'll tell you who, people that deserve to have their 1911's lock up!) And the 1902 reference uses a SSA revolver!

Have you ever cussed while trying to get your slide stop out? It's not an easy function considering you’re fighting the recoil spring pressure while trying to line up the slide stop so it mates with that tiny* key opening on the slide. Imagine trying to do this while the slide is cycling.

Can it happen? Sure, but the mechanics of this "fatal flaw" occurring are not statistically significant.

* It's tiny for a reason, thank you very much John Moses Browning.

Before people get worked up, has anyone on this forum ever had a problem ? Please, no one mention the "G" word, or this thread will never die.

Oh No...this again! The method illustrated in this video, pointing with the index finger and discharging with the middle finger is more fatal to the shooter than the slide stop pin design of John Browning's 1911. It's another illustration, the facts can be twisted around to pronounce and support almost any theory......this one is so bad.....yet there are folks who swallow it hook line and sinker!!

I've got 55+ years shooting 1911's in my rear-view mirror (including my service training) and not once (Zip/Zilch/Zero/Zed/0/Nothing/Nought/Naught/Nil/Ought/Aught) have I trained/shot with my middle finger, witnessed anyone train/shoot in that manner, experienced or know/heard of this "fatal flaw" ever happening. Only it's mention on the interwebz, and there's a testimonial that speaks volumes.

Yea, yea, I know I'm not THE repository of all things 1911, but........I am experienced.

(Word on the street is that Gaston did the voice-over for that video.) Hey, that's not the "G" word you meant!
