1911A1 Clone
Hello all/Responce to Huck
Ron L here = SERESURPLUS Well, a responce to your question of do I carry my Rock islanmd Arsenal 1911A1, yes and no! I do not carry it right now, I am carring a M-95 Classic a Argintine copy of the Browning High Power in a detective shorter slide unit! I do swop on and off with the 1911A1 week to week, In really Hot weather or in shorts, I switch to a PA-63 Copy of the Wather PP, I do take my "Clones" seriously! LOL This Company Rock Island Arsenal is a Div or Armscorp and manuf this pistol in the Phillipines, it's completly Mil-spec and all parts will swop out with Colt or many other 1911A1's! For the $, you could do a lot worse, Link to Sarco who carries these pistols: http://www.sarcoinc.com/rockislands-new.html |
Springfield milispec. It has a lifetime warranty.

I second the Rock Island. The slide, frame and barrel are the same as the STI Spartan.
It's very easy to swap out parts you don't like on almost any 1911, and I just went ahead and built mine fairly close to MEU/SOCOM specs as it's regularly submerged in silty water and exposed to the elements. I use a Fobus belt holster for this reason as well. Mine is accurate enough to knock over tin cans at 50 yards if I do my part, and so I left the accurizing part MEU does out. Just check out the function of any 1911 before you buy; I've seen some bad ones recently from Taurus - the thumb safety didn't hold the sear tightly. Just Google the term used 1911 function check and you'll get a bunch of easy checks to run on a potential purchase. Josh <>< |
My little RIA Compact is one of my carry guns. Great shooter especially since I changed out the tiny GI sights...

The most features for the $ 600 price point would be the Taurus PT-1911.
It has the most sought after 1911 enhancements in place...and a lifetime warranty ! You would spend much more updating a RIA or Springer to these features. |
