Old side by side. Dickson Falcon 12 gauge. Already went shooting last weekend, and it fits like a freaking glove. Picked it up in a pawn shop.

Know anything about it? From what I've found, it seems to be a "trade" gun, like it was a patent released to several different makers or something. I checked the proofing marks, and tracked it down to a "proofing house" (wtf is that?), in 1931.

Locks up rock solid, shoots straight like it's nobody's business, and it seems in perfect working order. I'll never shoot anything but 2 3/4" target/bird loads through it.

I've found them online in immaculate condition with the original cases going for upwards of $2K. Mine's far from immaculate, cosmetically.

what chokes are in it an how long are the bbls? is it the gun youll be shooting at the meet?

a proof house is where they double charge a gun to see if it survives. if it does, it passes and gets the stamp.

you have a utility grade spanish import. its about a 400.00 gun. they were imported back then to compete against guns like stevens. its known for a good 3 point lock up and goes by the model number of 1302. hope it helps.

I'm thinking about that. Right now, the LOP is pretty much perfect, but I think I could possibly use an extra half to one inch. It does have a recoil pad on it, but I don't know if it's original or not. I'm thinking, built in 1931, did they have them back then? I don't know, but looking at pictures, I've seen several just like it with an identical pad. Maybe that particular pad was a common add on in the 50's or 60's or something? Who knows.

I put 100 shells through it the other weekend, and my only complaint was that the oval shaped trigger guard beat the hell out of my middle finger upon recoil. I'm thinking of one of those batter's gloves, or trying to find a way to adjust my grip so that this doesn't happen. Maybe a little extra LOP would help in that regard too.

And yeah, it has double triggers, and they don't have to fire in sequence, I can pick and choose which one to shoot based on the situation. I was practicing that when I went shooting.

its beating your middle finger because you must reach so far for that 1st trigger. in doing so, your grip is relaxed.
they had pads in the 30's but would be rotted by now.
btw, a slip on would give you an extra 1". i would.

so, when should i expect your pm for my address? all this happy happy joy joy for the gun, but no ticket and you may get bumped!

find anyone on ftf that doesnt know about the shoot? send them here!

It has been recommended if I don't shoot well with the .410 I might like shooting a Remington youth 1100 shotgun. Would anyone happen to have one they can bring along or know where who I might be able to borrow one from for the weekend of the Shoot and Hoot?
